after being in failing health.
Born in Winthrop, Massachusetts, Ruth lived in
Revere until she married the late Richard Brownel
l,
and they settled in
Nahant
where she lived fo
r
the past
55
years.
Ruth was the daughter
of the late Arvid Erling
and Mary Josephine
(
Pesane
) Jansson of Revere. She is survived by
two children:
her beloved
son,
Brendon R. Brownell of Nahant
,
and
her beloved daughter,
Valerie
R.
Corcoran and husband, Emmet
, of Lynn
. She leaves her
sister,
Barbara Upson of Lexington
,
and
her
husband Paul.
She was the sister of the
late Arvid
W.
Jansson of Honolulu
, and
a
loving grandmother
to
Corey and Ashley Corcoran
. Ruth
received her
B.S.
degree
in Education from Salem State University
and her Ed.
M
.
in Communic
ations from Boston University.
Education was her passion having worked as a school teacher in the Revere Public Schools
' high school, middle school, elementary schools, and the
Revere Jewish Community Center
. She
was
also
an educational ev
aluator,
real estate broker
, and volunteer children's librarian
.
The family wishes for a relatively private and brief ceremony at the Nahant Greenlawn Cemetery Thursday May 24th at 11 a.m. and only those who really feel the need necessary should attend and meet at the main entrance of the cemetery.
