Robert Milam Duchacek of Everett passed away surrounded by family on November 30, 2017 at Cambridge Hospital. He was born in Natick, Massachusetts on January 27, 1943 to Ralph and
Mildred Duchacek..

Survivors include his wife, Ana Lucia Duchacek, his sister Carol Gyllenhoff, and several nieces
and nephews, including Leslie Kurtz, Peter Sherr, Ralph Duchacek, Jr., Eric Duchacek, Katherine Blanque, Holly Vig and their families, including several grandnieces and grandnephews..
He was predeceased by his older brother, Ralph Duchacek.

Bob attended Woodcliff Lake, NJ, elementary school and Pascack Valley High school.in Hillsdale, NJ.
He graduated from Wilbraham Academy in Wilbraham, Mass.

After graduation from Pennsylvania State University in 1964 with a BA in English, Bob began his
career as an editor at Prentice Hall Publishing in Englewood Cliffs, NJ. He later worked as a
manuscript copy editor in the Boston area at Addison Wesley, IBM Lotus Notes, Winthrop Publishers and Little, Brown and Company.

While in college he joined R.O.T.C., and upon graduation in 1964 was sent to Korea. He was
discharged in 1966 with the rank of Captain.

A long-term resident of Cambridge and Everett, after completion of his career he became involved
with La Comunidad, a local non-profit which aids Spanish-speaking immigrants. He functioned as
a translator of legal documents, often assisting clients at court hearings. His contacts with
office workers and clients were a source of major fulfillment, and enriched his life.

Bob has been described as a gentleman in the true sense of the word; he was humble and self-effacing,
generous in his estimation of others. A person of unusual intelligence, he was nicknamed The Brainiac
within his family. To many in Everett he was known simply as Uncle Bob.

The family wishes to acknowledge his friend and caregiver, Irene Burley, and his friend Pastor David
Martinez and his family. Bob received excellent and compassionate
care while at Cambridge Hospital. His family is profoundly grateful to all.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 16th at 1:00pm at Tabernaculo Evangelico A/D
at 957 Broadway, Revere MA 02151, at the Revere Circle. A reception at the church will follow the ceremony.
