ARNOTT, Sr. Richard Charles – of Salem, NH (formerly of Somerville and Malden, MA and Freedom, NH) on Tuesday, July 7, 2026. Devoted husband to the late Shivaun Patricia (McCarthy) Arnott. Father of Maura P. (Arnott) Ruf, and her husband Chris of Salem, NH and Richard C. Arnott Jr., and his wife Inger, of Londonderry, NH. Beloved grandfather of Emma and Anna Arnott, Shivaun and Brianna Smith and Jonathan Ruf. The son of the late Chester L. Arnott and Sadie Mae (O'Neil) Arnott. Brother of the late Chester L. Arnott, Jr. and his wife Carol and Wallace Arnott. Survived by several nieces and nephews.
Richard attended Don Bosco Technical High School in Boston and took up the trade of printing. Richard was the co-owner of Paragon Press, Inc. with his partner Richard J. O'Meara which began in Somerville in 1965. The company later moved to Malden and finally ending up in Everett on Ferry Street, until it closed in the early 2000's. Richard was an avid Boston Bruins fans and had season tickets through the 70's, 80's and 90's.
After retirement and the death of his beloved wife Shivaun, in August 1996, Richard moved to Freedom, NH full-time. He spent several years working a part-time job and enjoying the beauty of Freedom and the surrounding area. Richard later moved in with his daughter and lived with her and her family until November 2025, when he moved into Salem Haven Nursing Facility until his death. Richard was dearly loved, and will be long remembered, for his wonderful sense of humor and unfailing devotion to family and friends.
Family and Friends are warmly invited to attend Richard's visiting hours at the Cafasso & SonsFuneral Home, 65 Clark Street (Corner of Main St.) Everett, MA on Tuesday, July 14th from 4-8pm. Richard's funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant Street, Malden on Wednesday, July 15th at 10 am. Interment at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Contributions in Richard's memory may be made to Harborside Hospice, 241 Winter Street, Suite 201, Haverhill, MA 01831. Parking with attendants on duty.
