Obituary

Paul passed away unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon, June 20, 2018. He was 75 years of age. Born in East Boston, he is the son of the late Guido and Anna (Vassallo) Schiappa. Paul grew up in South Hadley and attended public school there. He graduated from South Hadley High School with the Class of 1961. Just after high school, Paul enlisted in the US Navy on August 29, 1961. SR Schiappa was stationed on the USS Lorain County (LST - 1177). He was honorably discharged on August 27, 1965. Paul was very proud of the military and he took great pride in being a part of defending his country during the Vietnam era. Years after completing his time in the Navy, Paul became a self employed tile setter. He owned and operated Schiappa Tile Company for 33 years before retiring in 2007. Paul settled in Everett with his wife Sandra M. "Sandy" (Cregan). The couple shared 44 years of marriage. Paul is a late member of the US LST Association #1177 and a late member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Malden Lodge #1910. Neighbors on Clark St. will always remember Paul sitting on his front porch with a warm smile and friendly wave, ready to say hello and share a story with anyone nearby. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. Paul is the husband of the late Marilyn (Tarr) Schiappa. He is the devoted father of Deanna M. Jackson and her husband Kent of Saugus, Janeen M. Canavan and her husband Jeff of Stoneham, John O. Lombardi and his wife Luciana of Peru, Denise F. Keohan of ME. Dear brother of Joseph Schiappa of Holyoke, Guido Schiappa of South Hadley and the late Rosemarie Stevens. Also lovingly survived by 10 grandchildren, Janeen Marie Castetter, Sofia Lombardi, Nadine Keohan, Mario Lombardi, David Keohan, Destiny Keohan, Kayla, Samantha, Victoria and Jaeda Jackson.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Paul's visiting hours in the Cafasso & Sons Funeral Home, 65 Clark St. (Corner of Main St.) EVERETT, Sunday, June 24 from 4-8 p.m. His funeral will be from the funeral home on Monday at 10 a.m. followed by his funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, 487 Broadway, Everett at 11 a.m. Interment at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne will be private.
