Obituary

MURPHY, Joseph D. of Malden, entered into eternal rest on his birthday, July 9, 2021 in the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, after being in failing health.  He turned 80 years old.  Born in Cambridge, Joe lived in Malden for many years.  He retired from the MBTA after 31 years of service with public transportation. Joe served in the United States Marine Corps and was a life member of the American Legion in Malden. Devoted son of the late Paul W. and Marguerite (Souza) Murphy.  Beloved husband of Doris (Holland) Murphy.  Dear and devoted father of Thomas Murphy of Nashua, NH and  Colleen Murphy McCann and her husband, Jason of VA. Dear step-father of Ron Cochran and his wife, Michelle of Malden, David Cochran of Melrose and Kevin Cochran of Somerville.  Brother of the late Paul Murphy. Loving Papa of Casey Murphy, Marissa Murphy, Haley Murphy, Makenzie Murphy, Max McCann, Jaime Cochran, Matthew Cochran, Sean Cochran, Christopher and Elena Chronopoulos . Loving great-Papa of Emerson Murphy.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Joe's visiting hours in the Cafasso & Sons Funeral Home,  65 Clark St. (Corner of Main St.) EVERETT, Thursday, July 15 from 4-7 p.m.  His funeral will be from the funeral home on  Friday at 9  a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Joseph's Church, 770 Salem St., Malden,  at 10  a.m. Interment  with military honors at Forestdale Cemetery, Malden.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joe's memory to Boston Wounded Vet Run, c/o ITAM Post 6, 60 Paris St., East Boston, MA, 02128 would be sincerely appreciated. Parking with attendants on duty.
