MONTALBANO, Joseph, of Saugus, formerly of Everett, entered into rest on Sunday, January 24, 2016 in the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was 81 years of age. Born in Boston, Joe lived in Everett for most of his life before settling in Saugus with his wife and daughter. He was in retail, working at the New England Produce Center. Beloved husband of Margareta (Steinbauer) for over 57 years. Devoted son of the late Rosaria "Sadie" (Bonavita) and Lorenzo Montalbano. Dear and devoted father of Diane Montalbano of Saugus. Brother of Lucille Luciano of Middleton and the late John "Dickie" Montalbano. Loving "Opa" of Gilliane Melvin, Jennifer Mason, Cortney Johnson, Danielle Mason, Lorenzo Mason and Peter Mason and great "Opa" of Brodie Melvin, Willow Melvin, Emma Johnson, Ethan Johnson, Landyn Mason, Payton Stanford and Camden Mason. Joe is also survived by his devoted canine companion, Bear. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Joseph's visiting hours in the Cafasso & Sons Funeral Home, 65 Clark St. (Corner of Main St.) EVERETT, Wednesday, Jan. 27 from 4-8 p.m. His funeral will be from the funeral home on Thursday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, 487 Broadway, Everett at 10 a.m. Entombment with military honors in the Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, Malden.
