Jim was born on July 14, 1939, and was the oldest of four sons of the late James and Lillian (Lehan) Savage. Raised in Everett, he graduated from Boston College High School as a proud member of the Class of 1956. Working his way through school on the assembly line at Whitings Milk Company and HP Hood, Jim received an A.B. from Boston College in 1960. Immediately after graduating from Boston College, Jim served in the United States Marine Corps. Jim went on to continue his studies earning an M. Ed.from Suffolk University in 1961, a C.C. from Oxford University in 1966, and a J.D. from New England School of Law in 1969.

Jim was a practicing attorney, arbitrator, and mediator throughout Massachusetts for over 40 years. Prior to private practice, Jim was General Counsel for Standard Contracting Company and a faculty member at LTI/University of Lowell. Jim's great loves were family and friends, Irish and American literature, Greek philosophy, writing, and the Boston Red Sox.

Jim was the beloved husband of the late Mary Ellen (Aliberti) Savage with whom he shared over 21 years of marriage. Jim was the devoted and wonderful father of Alicia Savage and her husband David Cain of Cohasset, and Jennifer Savage and her partner Edward Butler of Manhattan, NY. Jim was the loving grandfather of James, Anna, and Elena Cain. He will be missed beyond measure.

Jim leaves behind his fiancée and partner of 20 years, Mary Langone of Walpole. Together, Jim and Mary traveled the world, including favorite trips to Australia, Italy, and Russia. Jim was the brother of Francis Savage and his wife, Carol of Beverly, Patrick Savage of Guilford, NH and the late Daniel Savage of Everett.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Saint Ignatius of Loyola, 28 Commonwealth Ave., Chestnut Hill, Wednesday, February 12 at 10am. Interment at Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
