Ines DeFeo Simonelli passed away peacefully at her home in Everett, MA, on March 10, 2025, with her family at her side. She was 94 years old.
Ines was born July 11, 1930. She was the daughter of Michele and Ersilia (DiMarino) DeFeo, both originally of Volturara Irpina, Avellino, Campania, Italy. Ines was confirmed Ines Maria Teresa Antonetta DeFeo. She lived her whole life at the same address in Everett, MA, where she graduated from Everett High School.
On September 18, 1949, Ines married Nicholas Lawrence Simonelli at the Immaculate Conception Church in Everett. Nick and Ines had four children: Nicholas, John, Michele, and Joanne.
Ines trained as a cosmetologist, later worked the "mom shift" at a factory, and then worked in the family business, Everett Springs Market, on Ferry Street, until she and her husband retired and sold the store. Ines was a wonderful cook; she loved hosting her large extended family at events over the years. Her family was the center of her world.
Ines is survived by her four children: Nicholas Simonelli and his wife, Mary, of NY, John Simonelli and his wife, Adrienne, of CA, Michele Emmert and her husband, Virgil, of SC and Joanne Simonelli of Maine. There are seven grandchildren: Jennifer (Jon) Kayne, Steven Simonelli, Asia Simonelli, Aden (Jordan) Colburn, Skye Simonelli, Meriah (Josh) Slabinski, and Anthony Emmert. There are 9 great-grandchildren: Ali & Gabi Kayne; Luna Simonelli; Kiva, Arlo, & Wren Colburn; Jeriah Emmert, and Jordin & Shawn Slabinski. Ines is also survived by her brother Al DeFeo, numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren. She was pre-deceased by her husband Nick and her brothers Dasco (Colette) & Nicholas (Anne) DeFeo, and her sister-in-law, Lona DeFeo.
Ines' wake will be held at Cafasso & Sons Funeral Home, 65 Clark Street (Corner of Main St.), Everett, from 4-7pm, Wednesday, March 19th. Her funeral processional will gather at the funeral home at 9am. Her funeral Mass will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church, 487 Broadway, Everett at 10am, Thursday, March 20th, followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
