TENNELL, Dorothea L. (Johnson) of Everett, entered into rest on Friday, May 13, 2016 in the Mt. Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, surrounded by her loving and caring family. She was 82 years old. Born in Boston, Dorothea lived in Everett for many years. Dorothea was a therapist by profession having worked in Social Services. She was very active in her Church, Zion Church Ministries, having devoted countless hours, whether social or spiritual for the benefit of her beloved Church. Beloved wife of the late William R. Holyfield and former wife of the late Melvin Tennell. Devoted daughter of the late Deacon Joseph E. Johnson and Deaconess Evelyn G. (Richardson) Johnson. Dear and devoted mother of Diana P. Haynes and her husband, Malvin of Everett, Nena M. Price and her ex-husband, Robert of Everett, Theresa E. Sadler and her late husband, Elmo Reese Sadler of Everett and Donna L. Green of Houston, TX. Sister of the late Joseph E. Johnson, Jr. Loving grandmother of Denise Iles and Ronnie, Leitha Iles, Simone Holyfield, Robert Price, II, Pia Orsini and her husband, Steven, Elmo Sadler, Elmer Sadler and his wife, Estella, Elmore Sadler and his wife, Arneisha, Korey Wilson and Kasey Johnson. Also surviving are 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Dorothea's visiting hours in the Zion Church Ministries, 757 Broadway, EVERETT, Thursday, May 19 from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by her funeral service in the Church, with Bishop Robert G. Brown, officiating at 11 a.m. Interment in the family lot in the Glenwood Cemetery, Everett. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dorothea's memory to the "Building Fund" of the Zion Church Ministries,would be sincerely appreciated.
