AMENO, Adeline R. (Giarla) of the North End of Boston and Popponesset, Cape Cod, entered into eternal rest, unexpectedly, on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 in the Winchester Hospital.  She was 97 years old. Adeline was born in Boston and was a longtime familiar face in the North End.  She, along with other notable women, contributed to the formation in 1971 of the North End Community Health Center, North End Waterfront Health also referred to New Health.  Adeline also served on their board for many years.

Adeline was the dear daughter of the late Michael Giarla and Consiglia (Melillo) Giarla; the beloved and devoted wife of the late Gennaro A. Ameno for over 74 years; the dear and devoted mother of Carl Ameno and his life partner, Maria Shea, Michael Ameno and his late wife, Rosanne, and Sofia Raffael and her husband, Ernest; dear sister of the late Raffaella Giarla, Lucy Giarla, Michael Giarla and his wife, Columbina, Louis Giarla and Mary Tortorici and her husband, Bennie; loving grandmother of Gennaro Ameno, Michelle Gallotto and her husband, Nick, Mario Ameno, Jenna Raffael and Evan Raffael; and loving great-grandmother of Leo Gallotto and Adrian Gallotto.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Adeline's visitation in St. Leonard of Port Maurice Parish, 320 Hanover St., North End Boston, Thursday, June 18, 2026 from 9 a.m.-11 a.m.  with a funeral Mass to follow at 11 a.m.  Burial will be with her beloved husband, Gennaro at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Adeline's memory to Elaine Wilson Scholarship for Community Health Outreach and Public Service, C/O Danny Coakley, 332 Hanover Street, Boston, MA 02113 would be sincerely appreciated.  Arrangements by Cafasso & Sons Funeral Home, Everett.
